As a life-long Chicago native, I attended a Chicago Public School (CPS) from early elementary through high school. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I returned to CPS in 2002 to begin my career in education. Since then, I have obtained graduate degrees in Educational Psychology/Special Education (M.Ed), Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) and Educational Leadership (M.Ed) from National Louis University and Northeastern University, respectively. In the past 20 years, I have served as an educator, school psychologist and special education program supervisor.

In my capacity as a school psychologist, I have conducted special education evaluations leading to the identification of disabilities in the areas of learning, cognition, social emotional, and functional learning. This includes the identification of executive functioning needs, early childhood/developmental delays and autism. In addition to my assessment practices, I have also led MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports) teams to identify students' needs, provide recommendations, create educational plans, and review all available data.
As a first generation Mexican-American, I am a fluent bilingual speaker with functional reading and writing skills in Spanish. I have integrated my cultural upbringing, educational experiences and knowledge of current bilingual assessments to conduct comprehensive and culturally sensitive educational evaluations.
